He finished 10th at the NCAA D1 Indoor Championships (2024) and set a collegiate record in the Men’s Heptathlon Pole Vault. (5.46m) He was also the BIG12 Heptathlon Champion, setting a BIG12 record of 6,068 points. (2024) He recently competed for Team USA in the Thorpe Cup in Marburg, Germany. (August 2023) Team USA won the meet, taking the cup lead from 14-13 to 15-13. Before the University of Houston, he ran track at Rice University on a full athletic scholarship and finished his degree in Sport Management. He was Second Team All-American in the Decathlon in 2023. During his senior year of high school, Otis received Arizona Player of the Year and Conference Player of the year. Otis later attended George Mason on a full athletic scholarship to play basketball. He later transferred to UTEP to continue his basketball career, in which he has been a starter for every single game in the season play while being an essential leader to the program’s development. Otis is currently studying Business Marketing, looking to get his real estate license or play pro basketball overseas. Otis had a great 23-24 season with a career high of 10.6 PPG, 27 minutes played per game, and a .43 shooting accuracy. His highest finish, 8th place, earned him All-American first team honors in the NCAA and was ranked top 25 nationally in the Men’s Pole Vault. The Houston school record holder is finishing his eligibility in a masters program and plans to compete on the pro level for the upcoming Olympic years. The 2024 indoor season showed a Second-Team All-American finish in the Pole Vault at the NCAA D1 Indoor Championships. He was also the runner-up at the BIG12 Championships in the vault.
